Aims and objectives
At Bear Necessities my aim is to provide a warm, friendly, safe and stimulating environment with a welcoming and positive atmosphere for all the children, where they can learn, grow and have fun in a home based environment. I am dedicated in providing the finest quality of care, education and love for the children. I hope to provide opportunities for each child to learn and develop to their full potential socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually, also to help each child to reach the highest degree of independence and confidence, as well as to discover their own strengths academically and creatively and to pave the way for them to go on and be happy and inquisitive at school.
I believe that partnership with parents/carers is important and welcome frequent discussions with the parents and in addition i also set up a WhatsApp Group for each child which informs them of their child's development and well-being.
At Bear Necessities I use an in the moment strategy which means I do no written planning, it’s very much a child led environment and relies on their interests, preferences and mood.
A typical day would mean that children access the toys and resources which have been set out at the beginning of the day based on my knowledge of individual children’s interests and as the day goes on they may add or change them as they wish.
The learning approach is to follow the children’s interests and have a blended pedagogy of child-led play in a rich learning environment and adult-guided interactions to support progress. I aim to ensure children have fun because I know that we are more likely to remember something when learning is multi-sensory, interesting and fun.
The curriculum I plan ensures:
It is ambitious and sufficiently challenging
Includes everyone I child-mind for including children with SEND
Prepares the children for being life long learners in school
Increases the cultural capital for the children
Delivers the EYFS, covering all seven areas of learning and development
Includes assessment of where the children are relative to the development milestones in development matters.
A big focus on reading
Takes into account the children’s starting points, individual interests and experiences.
Offers a wide range of curricula activities to enhance children’s learning and development
Embraces culture and diversity by celebrating special occasions.
When planning I use the three I’s strategy:
Intent (my plan), Implementation (my practice), Impact (the outcome)
